What happened to 2011? Better yet, what happened in 2011? Since life seemed to take over my blogging time in 2011, let me catch this blog up with things that are sooooo last year! Here is goes…….
May 2011
There seemed to be a lot going in May when it came to birthdays and a very special graduation.
- Mom’s Birthday was May 16
- Mark Anthony’s Birthday was on May 19
- Tyler’s 15th Birthday was May 23
In Jeff’s age group (35-39) he came in #41, overall he came in 453 and his time was 30:48.
For my age group (25-29) I came in #187 (ouch!), overall I came in 1233 and my time was 37:50. My goal was to make it in 35:00 or under, but this was my first 5k and considering that I dislike running, I was pretty proud that I even finished it.

Along with these exciting and new things, Joshua came up for his Summer Visitation with us, just in time for Father’s Day! I helped Josh make a very cute and sweet card for Jeff! (I think that putting a personal touch on gifts make it that much more meaningful, so I try and do this always!)
At the end of the month, we all went to a road trip to Lincoln, Nebraska for the Zobel Family Reunion! (We all as in: Jeff, Josh, myself, Jenny and her 3 boys) It was about a 13-14 hour drive and we were excited to finally get there! It was so great to meet some of Jeff’s family and extended family! Everyone was extremely nice and welcoming! I thought it was great that Jeff got to reconnect with family that he hadn’t seen or spoken to in 18 years, or something like that! Below are some pics from the reunion!
- August 16 marked our 3rd year anniversary
- August 22 was my sweet husband’s 37th birthday

After a couple of weeks of working, we had another week off for my birthday. Every year we take a vacation and it either happens during the week of my birthday or of Jeff’s birthday, so this year it was on my birthday! This year I was so indecisive about where to go, we simply decided to spend the first weekend (Sept. 17-18) with Tyler and Elaine at Horseshoe Bay, Marble Falls, Spicewood, and Fredericksburg, Tx. Due to teenage drama (i.e. Tyler’s first break-up) this weekend was not as fun as we had planned. We did what we could to console, support, and distract but at times that still proved to be unhelpful. While he was experiencing this sad time, one thought came to my mind….”This too shall pass”. We’ve all been there and it’s funny to think how we all thought it was the end of our world….now, it’s just amusing to think of how heartbroken we were. What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger!

The rest of our vacation time (Sept. 19-25) was spent in Corpus where we ate good food, hung out with family, played a little tennis, enjoyed the beach, and Jeff did a little fishing….We simply enjoyed a week of some much needed R&R! We even went and looked at vacation condos!
After a week of not being home, we were a little tired because, after all, a vacation is never really a vacation. I think we all felt a little like Max did by the end of the week…..
Halloween was pretty uneventful this year. I was sick with a cough, congestion, bronchitis and bilateral conjuctivitis of which seemed to last for about 3 weeks! After some good antibiotics it finally went away. Since I was a little under the weather and since Halloween was on a Monday this year, we sat outside by our garage and handed out candy to the neighborhood kids. At work, the dress up theme was M&M’s.

Josh and Dad |
- room for 7
- heated steering wheel
- touch screen navigation system
- being able to tell just how many miles I have left before I absolutely have to stop and put gas
- heated rear passenger seats
- the monthly payment
- the dollar amount of gas I’ve put in it for a month
- 2 door sports car
- the built in memory storage where I can burn all of those CD’s I have sitting around
- how much it’ll cost to fill up with gas
- it’s a 4 seater
Things I think I won’t like about my Mercedes:
- it’s a 4 seater
- no heated steering wheel
- no rear heated seats
- the “mouse” navigation system
- not knowing how many miles I left to drive before empty
These are two completely different vehicles and each has it’s positives and negatives. I’m blessed to be able to drive a car that I want, because it’s definitely not what I need.
To end 2012 we celebrated Josh’s 8th Birthday, Christmas (at our home), and we started 2013 off with a fun group of boys!
