My little baby boy,
You’re two now! Two! I’m not going to lie I may have shed a few tears. Every day you get a little bit older. Every day you’re turning more into a little boy, and less of a baby boy! This makes my heart a little bit sad. You still want your mommy more than your daddy, and you still want me to hold your hand, but I know that someday this will change. So for now, I’ll embrace every minute of you being our little boy.
This past month has been full of changes for all of us. Some of them are more heartbreaking for this momma, because I know that they are affecting you. The one thing I have learned thus far about being a mom is being unable to protect you from things that I feel are going to be hard on you. It really, really is so hard for me and I know that in the end you will be fine and it is probably harder on me than it will ever be on you.
Change #1) We decided to sell our home. The only home you’ve ever known. Packing and getting ready to move has been a challenge. It’s hard to pack when all you want to do is play. So most of our packing has been done during naptime, or bedtime. The other times you’ve tried to be so helpful.
Change #2) You started a new daycare. Deciding where you should be for 8-9 hours while mommy is at work is one of the toughest decisions to make. I wanted you to be comfortable in your environment, but I knew that this change would not be easy since you had been at the same daycare since you were 3 months old. I also knew that you would adjust and be fine. Time will make everything just fine. I know that you will prosper and learn so much more. In fact, you have learned to wash your hands on your own now. Mommy saw you one day when I was picking you up from school. I smiled and knew that the right decision was made. I can already see so much change and learning from you.
Your vocabulary is exploding and I’m sure that from here forward I won’t be able to keep up with all of the new things that you say daily. I’m sure that I’ve even missed a few words here and there this entire past year. You are so smart! I’m might be biased, but even daddy says that he’s never seen a kid as smart as you! You can now count from 1-20 on your own. You are beginning to recognize songs and you even ask to hear them. Mommy plays nursery rhymes during our drives home. Your favorite song right now is 10,000 Reasons. You call it “My Soul”. You always ask us to play this song and you sing it with all of your heart! Oh, it brings tears to my eyes and makes this momma heart smile!
You are becoming more and more independent. When we go on walks you no longer want to take your car or bike, instead you would rather walk. Mommy is trying to teach you that we can’t walk across the street on your own, and that you must hold mommy or daddy’s hand to cross the street because of the big cars. You love to point at things and say what they are.
Our bedtime routine is still the same. We brush your teeth, read books, pray, sing, and then lights out. You still pick out your own books, but reading time is becoming a little more challenging. Often times, you want to just flip thru the pages and not actually read. So, we go with the flow. You still favor for mommy to put you to bed.
You’re drinking 6-8 ounces of milk three times a day (8:30am, 11:30am, and 6:00pm).
You are eating 3 times a day (8:30am, 11:30am, and 6:00pm) with an occasional morning snack, and afternoon snack.
Your nap time is at 12:00-3:00pm.
You have bath time around 7:00-7:30pm, go to bed between 8:00-8:30pm, and wake up between 7:00-8:00am.
