Wow, what a difference two weeks can make. Previous update posts are here and here. On our way back into town on the Monday after Easter, my husband called to find out what the progress was on our house. Our contractor said that our brick had finally arrived! Fantastic news! Music to my ears! He also said that they had already started bricking the house that day. We did drive by when we finally got into town, but we did not get out of the car because there were a ton of workers working on getting our house bricked.
Here is the latest…

Here we are with white painted cabinets and painted walls throughout the house. I truly love the contrast between the two colors.

Crown molding and base boards were put in, including our granite and tile floors.
Kitchen Granite: Bianco River |
Kitchen floor. Tile: Daltile Cotto Wall Street We used this same tile in our laundry room and half bath. The very nice tile guy loved the tile so much he said he was going to put them in his house. |
Close up of the granite. It had a little more of the brown specks than I wanted but I think it will grow on me.
Tile in the master bath. We also used this tile in the guest bathroom.

We have brick. This brick is the reason why we are delayed to close by 2 weeks.
Brick: Boral (Sheltered Bluff)
Still have a little brick left to go.

Our shower/tub tile went in, as well as our kitchen backsplash.
Well folks this is our master shower. I love, love the tile and colors.
Back splash in place.

Guest bathroom. Again, I love the way the tile looks. A bathroom fit for my little man!
Mostly done with the brick. Exterior paint is still needed.
And just like that the front brick job is done!

We went by today to check on the progress and found a few things that needed to be fixed. Building your home is never a smooth process. Luckily, they are things that are minor and can be fixed easily. We also happened to run into the contractor while we were there. He said next would be wood floors and carpet, as well as finishing up the interior details such as the crown molding and base boards.

We have light and plumbing fixtures folks! They look black, but they are bronze.
See those extra holes in the ceiling, well we are supposed to have 3 penant lights and they only wired for 2. This is one of the things that has to be fixed. Never mind the monster cans and trash that was left behind by the workers. Another thing in this picture that is going to be fixed is the backsplash. I’m thankful that we have a contractor who pays attention to detail. He said the backsplash was going to be completely removed because of the electrical plugs not sitting well on the dark gray band in backsplash. So, they will move up the dark gray band one row so the electrical plugs sit flat on the tile.
Family room. Ceiling fans are installed in all rooms and outside.

Toilets were also installed. This is the half bath located downstairs.

Another thing to be fixed, these exterior light fixtures. These are not the ones we chose. Oh the little things that we have to stay on top of.
We’re getting closer to closing. We have about 3.5 weeks, but who is counting! There is still a lot to do: wood floors, carpet, touch up paint, crown molding stapled in better, shower enclosure, small brick placements, garage painted, fireplace tiled, appliance placement, fence, and landscaping.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it all gets completed on time!!!
