Update: I spoke with the director of the school yesterday afternoon and she stated that not one of the 3 teachers recalled him crying on Thursday. He never went to complain about this boy bothering or hurting him either. The teachers did a quick well look (something they do a few times a day) and didn’t see that anything was wrong with Mason, and they didn’t notice any blood on his shirt. Oddly, there wasn’t any blood on the shirt, just a cut shirt and a stab wound. The teachers did say that this boy was next to him quite a bit on Thursday. The director spoke with the boy’s mother and she was said to be very tearful and knew that her son had did it. They discussed the severity of what he did with the mom and she understood. The teachers were instructed to be on high alert and to monitor the boys behavior closely. Next week they are moving the boy to a new classroom. I told the director that I thankful that he would be leaving the classroom, but concerned because changing classrooms is not going to change is behavior. She understood my concerns. She expressed that should another incident occur the mom would have to find another environment for him to be in. While I’m relieved that he won’t be in Mason’s classroom anymore and possibly inflict pain upon my child, my heart breaks for the other boy’s mama. It’s tough being a parent. It’s probably a lot tougher when your child is unruly and doesn’t play nice. You just can’t reason with a 2 year old…you try it. I know, it’s tough for me when Mason doesn’t follow the rules in our house. I’m blessed and thankful that he doesn’t do the same at school or around others he doesn’t know. For the record, the school called me yesterday afternoon to inform me that Mason was accidently kicked in the face and shoulder yesterday by another kid who decided to act out and kick his legs up while they were in circle time. My not-so lucky child happened to be the kid sitting next to him…argh!!!!! As such is life when your child goes to daycare. Lessons learned, I suppose.
Our Week…4.25.16
I had the past 3 days off and it was great, but this entire week has been a whirlwind, as will the next 2 weeks until we close on our house and move out of this apartment.
THURSDAY
Mason did not have school on Friday, so Thursday was his last day for the week. When I picked him up from school on Thursday, I noticed his brand new shirt had a hole from the right arm to his chest. It was very obvious that his shirt had been cut. I asked him what happened and he mentioned a kids name in his classroom that had did it. I didn’t bother to look under his shirt, but that night he started complaining of something hurting him. I looked under his shirt and much to my surprise my son had been stabbed (see pic below)! I asked him again what happened and he mentioned this same kid’s name and that he did it with scissors. Mason is pretty advanced with his speech development and for a 2 year old he can speak in 5-6 word sentences, and pretty easy to understand. So, there was no doubt in my mind as to what happened.
Have you ever seen a mama bear protect her cub? Well, you better bet your butt that I was beyond mad! How did the teachers not know? If they had scissors out in class, why weren’t they watching them? Why was I not notified? It’s too bad they were closed when I noticed it and that they were also closed on Friday. I sent them a not so nice email explaining what happened and my concerns. Did I mention that this kid is the same kid that I saw slap another little girl’s in his class across the face? Enough is enough. I made my way to the directors office this morning to ask if she got my email and to also discuss my concerns face-to-face. She assured me that she would talk to the teachers today and also speak with this boy’s parents. I can’t wait to hear what she has to say this afternoon.
FRIDAY
Moving on, we had a busy Friday. We had our walk-thru in the AM, of which lasted about 2.5 hours. Let me just say…NIGHTMARE! More on that later. Our closing date is still scheduled for this week. We have given them no other option. After our walk-thru we had a nice family lunch at Fuzzy’s Taco Shop. My husband and I parted ways, he went to work and Mason and I headed to get our water set up for service when we move and I took Mason to get a hair cut. I’ve been wanting to something new with his hair and I love how it looks (see pics below).
“Let me listen to you mommy”. “I gonna check your heart mommy”. Maybe my sweet boy will be a nurse like his momma, or a doctor someday. I suppose it’s time to get him his own little play doctor kit.
Entertainment at it’s finest during our walk-thru.
Family lunch after our walk-thru before my husband headed to work.
Last time I took him to get a haircut he had full blown temper tantrum because he wanted to play with the train table. Every momma’s nightmare. He has had a haircut every month or two since he was 1 year old, so he knew the drill. We had several talks the day before, the morning of, and right before his haircut about being a big boy. He said “I not yell. That’s a no-no”. Yes, son, that is a no-no. Please don’t do it again. He did really well this time. He got in his seat and let her cut his hair. When she was done there were no complaints when it was time to leave. Thank goodness!
Showing off his new cut! Cheese!
We also went on a walk and fed the ducks.
He’s getting this cheese thing down! Maybe he’ll like the camera soon 🙂 I can hope, can’t I.
Playing chase with his momma.
SATURDAY
Saturday was a day of relaxation with my little man while my husband worked. After my husband got home from work we went to check on the progress of the house.
SUNDAY
Sunday was a normal Sunday for us. Full of faith and family! After church we had lunch and went to home depot to get a pull down ladder for the attic space in the garage of our new soon-to-be home. We went to the house to mark up all of the areas that need to fixed before we close later this week. I’ll just say that it looked like an outbreak of the measles in there. We had our class at church and then had a nice quiet dinner at home. Sunday’s are late nights for us and I feel like we run around like crazy on this day of rest!
All ready for church. We were just waiting on daddy to get dressed.
Walking around home depot…like a boss!
Have a Happy Week!
