This past weekend we had our 6th Annual Family Getaway to the hill country in Concan, TX. We go every year and it’s always fun, well except for around 10pm or later when everyone is drunk and you’re trying to get your toddler to sleep but it’s SO loud, ha!
The week prior was one heck of a stressful week. Mason started at a new school and Hurricane Harvey hit while my husband was working in Houston and had to stay behind. I was glued to the TV and grateful that he was okay, but so sad for all of those who lost their lives and homes. This trip was just what we needed. Time away from the stress and time spent with family.
Mason and I headed down south a day early with my aunt and uncle. It started off great and then EVERYONE in San Antonio seemed to freak out about what could possibly be a gas shortage due to the hurricane hitting the Gulf Coast. UGH! We needed gas to travel. Hello people! Well, at 3am, I woke up that night and found a gas station in San Antonio that had gas. It would get us to Concan, so we prayed that the gas craze would die down by the end of our 4 day weekend so we could find gas to get back home.
Here is Mason at a restaurant we ate at for breakfast in San Antonio before driving to Concan.
So, with the gas shortage the rest of my family also begin to freak out about gas. I’m happy to report that everyone made it safely and had no issues finding gas for their cars.
Can he take a serious photo?! No.
Swimming
Fishing
At the end of our trip each family takes a family pic and then the whole group gets in for one last photo for the weekend!
Mason and I headed back home and my husband drove back to Houston!
His obligatory Bucee’s photo!
Back home and treating my boy to his favorite restaurant…Chili’s!
Until next year Concan, until next year!
