Every year for the past 8 years our family has spent Labor Day weekend together out in the Hill Country of Concan, TX. We’ve seen people come and go from our group. Every year always looks a little bit different, whether it be the new person, kid, or house, but that is what makes it fun and exciting.
This year we stayed at Rio Blessings.
Every single year we have stayed at a different house. Again, because different people go and we have to find the right house that will accommodate everyone going. This house was almost perfect, but that is a different story. Nonetheless, we all enjoyed our time and this house.

Usually our first day is spent waiting for everyone to arrive. Some get there early, like before check-in time, but the rental companies have always allowed us early check-in. Some get there late, because they drive up after they get out of work. This year, most of us got there before the sun went down, so we all got to spend a little more time together.
We make it a point to get a pool in every house we rent. The one year we did not was because we had direct river access, and we booked a house too late. Ha!
These two. They are second cousins and play well together. Sweet Easton kept asking what his friends name was. LOL!

We wake up and my mom cooks breakfast tacos for everyone. We always plan a menu and everyone partakes in buying the groceries. So we also make grocery shopping lists for everyone. We’ve done this every year and it works out perfect. After breakfast, some of us went outside and let the kids blow bubbles.
Bubbles and kids. A great way to pass the time.
During the day some of the crew went to hang out at the Frio River. We enjoyed pool time and then Mason, his daddy, my cousin and his son went fishing later that evening. After a shower and dinner the guys lit up a fire so that everyone could enjoy Smores!
Mason said “mmm, this is so good”. He would. He has the biggest sweet tooth like his daddy.
And, here’s my mom asleep on the cot outside. Long days in the sun make for one tired person.

Most of the family went to the river, but we hung out at the house and enjoyed our time in the pool. was nice and quiet. My husband set up a waterslide for the kids that my aunt brought. Mason liked it, but he did not want the water on because it was splashing him in the face.

After everyone came back we got dressed and went to a new ice cream shop. I’m not sure when they built it, but it was not there last year. It was the cutest. Of course they had Blue Bell ice cream and tons of candy.
Just living his best life with chocolate ice cream topped with M&M’s.
Our last night and the storms rolled in. It was breezy, cool and we had the best lighting show ever.

Our last morning is full of hustle and bustle. We wake up and prepare for take off. My mom make breakfast tacos for everyone and we eat before we start cleaning up to get ready to head back home.
The very last thing we all do is take pictures. It’s tradition that every year each family takes a picture and then we take a group picture. So, here we all are.
