I can’t believe today is the last day of February, but I’m ready to share this month’s book review with you. This month I read The Breakdown by B. A. Paris. I started this book about a week into February, simply because I started January late and finished it late. It was a quick read, for me that it. I don’t read everyday, or hours upon hours, so a couple of weeks to read a book is pretty good. Now for the review….
This book was so, so good. I would categorize this one as an emotional psychological thriller. It gets your attention from the very beginning and keeps it until the end.
It starts with a teacher named Cass leaving a party and driving down a poorly lit, wooded road and she notices another car broken down on the side of the road with a woman inside. She stops to possibly help, but when the woman does nothing to signal that she needs help, Cass decides to continue driving home.
The next morning Cass finds out that the woman in the car was actually murdered, and is someone that she knew. But, Cass doesn’t tell anyone that she saw the car or the woman on that same road the night before, not even her husband or her best friend.
Cass then begins to experience what seems like a break down. She becomes forgetful, paranoid, and scared. She feels like she is being watch and then she starts getting harassed by an unknown caller.
This book left me on the edge of my seat. It kept my interest high, which is why I probably read thru the book so quickly. This was another good read by B. A. Paris. The first B. A. Paris book I read was Behind Closed Doors and it too kept me wanting to read just to hurry and find out what was going to happen.
