It’s been a little over a week since we officially moved to Iowa, but last Friday we hit the road. On Wednesday our moving truck was delivered and on Thursday our loading people showed up to try and pack ALL of our stuff in the moving truck.
It was quite the day watching them strategically pack everything in there, BUT it was done and that truck was filled to the max. We even left a lot behind, like our washer, dryer, and our refrigerator. Not sure what we would have done if we had to bring those large items, not to mention I had already sold a bunch of big items like our dining room table and our outdoor patio furniture and fire pit.

Even our car was filled to the max. |
FIRST STOP
Our first stop out of Houston was back in our old stompin’ grounds of Dallas. We had dinner at Cheesecake Factory with some old friends and had a good dinner with good conversation. They sure will be missed.
And we had breakfast with my cousin and her family. Our last meal in Texas.
SECOND STOP
Early the next morning we woke up and got back on the road and headed to our next stop in Emporia, Kansas. It was a quick stay before we headed out again.
LAST TRAVEL DAY
Our last travel day was our final destination in Iowa and now it’s time to learn a little bit more about this place.
Today our truck was delivered and unloaded. That was another circus show. They removed a large sofa that my husband had in our living room, because it just didn’t fit well. They attempted to get our regular living room sectional upstairs and failed, SO we had to go buy a smaller “apartment sized” sofa, chair and love seat. Now that everything is unpacked from the moving truck we have boxes everywhere and they are overtaking this small apartment. Time to search for a storage room because it wont all fit in here.
Yesterday was the 4th of July and we decided to go and see what their fireworks show was all about. The weather was nice and we had fun people watching. We’ll definitely do it again.
