This past weekend we headed out on our annual family trip to Concan, TX. This year looked a little different for us. We usually are some of the first people to get there and get settled before everyone else shows up, but with living so far away now that wasn’t going to happen. The trip started out terrible, and by terrible I mean delayed flights, sitting on a runway for hours after sitting on the plane due to a diversion, another delayed flight finally resulting in a cancelled connecting flight. You get the point of just how terrible it was, and it only got worse.
After issues with our delayed flight, we missed our connecting flight or which was later delayed and then cancelled. This was before we found out it was cancelled.
After our 10:00pm flight was cancelled, 30 minutes prior to the boarding time, we ended up having to rent a car to get to our destination. Renting a car was another fiasco. There weren’t any cars because all flights that evening were cancelled and everyone was renting a car. Renting a car and driving meant we had a 6 hour drive ahead of us in the middle of the night. We didn’t arrive at our destination until 6:00am. We literally were almost traveling for 20 hours. Oh, and we also did not get to get our luggage because that was stuck at our connecting destination. See what I’m talking about, terrible nightmare.
Regardless of our terrible experience we tried to make the most of what was left of our trip.
The day before were leaving our luggage finally arrived.
On our last night we always have smores.
We had a late morning flight back home, so when in San Antonio you always eat Mexican.
Maybe next year the trip will go a little smoother!
