Like most people our holiday season has been busy. This year we put up our decorations a little earlier than usual, because we were going out of town for Thanksgiving. We also had to buy a much smaller tree to fit our space this year. I found this small cute pencil tree at Walmart and it served its purpose well. It fit perfectly in between our two sofas.
Every year Mason has had his own tree in his playroom, but since we don’t have a playroom here I told him we would buy him a small tree for his bedroom. He picked out all of ornaments for the tree and he loved it.
I was also able to score a few new Rae Dunn Christmas pieces so I incorporated those in my decor this year. It’s been tough decorating for holidays since most of my stuff is in storage and I have no intentions of buying more stuff when I have a storage room full of decor.
Every year we also try to do an Advent Calendar for Mason. This year we got a Lego themed one. Every morning he woke up ready to open that days square.
Since moving here we’ve been to the Amana Colonies several times, but this was our first time during the holiday season. They have a year around Christmas store and it’s one of my favorites. During the Christmas season they have a barn filled with decorated Christmas trees. Donations are accepted and the money goes to the Iowa Children’s Hospital.
Santa is also there to take pics with. Mason sat for this pic and basically said this was good enough for the year. Ha! So, this is as good as it gets when it comes to a picture with Santa.
Mason also had his Christmas party at school. They listened to the story of Christmas from the bible, decorated cookies, and watched the Charlie Brown Christmas movie.
Loved my Christmas gift too!
In addition to all of that Mason also had a Christmas performance. It was the sweetest thing ever. The Christmas performance was actually held at our church and each grade sang a different Christmas song. It was a great way to prepare our hearts for the true meaning of the season…Jesus’ birth!
